IBC 2015 : 4K Mastering, high-speed transcoding of IMF & DCP, real-time reference playback of high-bitrate IMF packages

Geneva, Switzerland, 10.09.2015 – At IBC 2015, Marquise Technologies will present a full range of solutions to efficiently create, transcode and control the quality of 4K masters for digital cinema, broadcasters and OTT services.

I C E

ICE is available in a new software version able to run on regular desktop systems, making it the most advanced reference player for IMF, DCP and other industry formats such as RAW files from digital cameras and other mezzanine formats including AS-11 UK DPP.

ICE has numerous tools to validate and check the compliancy of IMF and DCP packages with multiple composition playlists, display subtitles and captions with full confidence, or analyze image and monitor audio loudness or surround. Large resolution or HFR media also play in sync with audio, for the best possible quality control.

ICE integrates an extensive choice of tools for color management, from simple 1D/3D LUTs to a fully blown color management system and also ACES support. Digital Cinema encrypted content can be easily checked without any need to managed DKDMs. ICE simply gets the right DKDM via the new integration with KeyMaster.

TORNADO is an ultra-fast engine for IMF and DCP transcoding. TORNADO has been designed for easy integration into modern pipelines. By using a comprehensive yet simple to use REST API, facilities working with large volumes of media can automate and customize transcoding workflows.

Numerous additional functionalities have been added in the TORNADO API, allowing not only to transcode to and from DCP or IMF packages, but also to easily handle supplemental packages, to split or merge them according to various needs. A simple and efficient web interface is now available as a front-end for TORNADO make it even more easy to use by anyone.

M I S T

MIST, the industry-leading solution for IMF and DCP mastering gains new must-have features.
A brand new text engine supporting advanced presentations models required by DCP and IMF mastering is now available. This new engine enables rich-text editing with innovative style management, along with first class text rendering capabilities.

Moreover, MIST gains new features to support SMPTE composition metadata for export as well as a much more streamlined interface for DCP & IMF mastering. DKDM management has also been greatly improved with the integration between MIST and KeyMaster. DKDMs can be fetched directly from KeyMaster without involving complex manipulations from the operator.

MIST Master now integrates THOR, the hardware processor designed by Digital Vision for running the most demanding restoration algorithms in real-time or faster. From file-based media or straight from a live signal, THOR + MIST Master form an unbeatable solution to repurpose legacy content for new 4K and UHD channels.

The regular DVO plug-ins, CPU based, are now also available for MIST Prime, the software only solution, and among them the Mastering package including the highly demanded denoise, sharpen, frame rate conversion or de-interlacing tools.

KEYMaster

KeyMaster, the most advanced KDM management platform for Digital Cinema now benefits from numerous new features. The KDM distribution can be personalized with custom emails, but also the naming convention of the KDM and the ZIP package name can be modified, according to each contract requirements.

KeyMaster is now fully integrated with MACCS, an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) System, developed especially for the film distribution market. Within MACCS all the data regarding relationships, bookings, contracts and financial results at hand are managed. This integration allows distributors using MACCS and KeyMaster to manage the KDM distribution from only a single interface. Then, KeyMaster automatically creates the needed KDMs for the bookings.

New this year, KeyMaster a la carte is available without contracting a service level agreement. KDMs can be purchased from small packs of 50 units, ideal for client’s reviews in theater or for sending KDM to film festivals.
