CenturyLink selected as CDN provider for Eutelsat CIRRUS

PARIS, Sept. 13, 2018CenturyLink, Inc. (NYSE: CTL), the second-largest U.S. communications provider to global enterprise customers, has announced it will serve as the technological content delivery network (CDN) provider for the satellite operator Eutelsat’s recently launched Eutelsat CIRRUS solution, which delivers hybrid satellite/OTT content.

A demonstration at IBC in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, from 14 to 18 September 2018, will show how Eutelsat CIRRUS acts as a ready-to-use service that broadcasters can use to deliver their content. It includes a service that simultaneously covers satellite and OTT. CenturyLink was chosen as a provider for the OTT distribution due to its global expertise in CDN.

“The complementary nature of our businesses, CenturyLink’s network coverage of over 725,000 km of fibre worldwide, and the technical quality of the proposed services were decisive criteria in our choice,” said Bruno Cattan, terminals and solutions director at Eutelsat. “We are delighted to have been able to establish a long-term relationship with CenturyLink, whose efficacy has already been demonstrated during the implementation of the project.”

“Our CDN has a unique position within the content delivery market,” says François Collobert, EMEA sales director for CenturyLink’s CDN and Vyvx solutions. “Because we own and operate our own infrastructure, we manage our connections from end to end and can provide exceptional service quality in a highly secure environment.”

Key Facts
